CISRS - Operatives Training Scheme (COTS)

  • Who Attends

    This CISRS 1-day course is for people who are new to scaffolding and wanting to work as a scaffolding labourer. In conjunction with the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test it will qualify delegates for a CISRS Scaffolder Trainee or CISRS Scaffolder Labour Card.

  • The Aim

    To show that the holder has both current up-to-date health and safety knowledge and the relevant industry skills and knowledge to carry out his duties in a safe manner. The course teaches the basics of the industry and how to work safely with scaffolding and access equipment.

    •Introduction and Welcome

    •General Responsibilities

    •Basic Scaffold Terminology (components & Application)

    •Servicing of Equipment, Tube, Fittings etc

    •Boards and Stock ? Quality Control

    •Health, Welfare, Hygiene and Housekeeping

    •Electrical Safety

    •Fire Prevention and Control

    •Noise and Vibration

    •Work at Height

    •Accident Prevention and Reporting

    •Slips, Trips and Falls

    •Personal Protective Equipment

    •Site Transport Safety (Including loading and unloading)

    •Equipment and Tools

    •Manual Handling (Including practical element)

    •Lifting Equipment Using a Rope and Wheel

  • Knowledge

    On completion of the course delegates will have a up-to-date understanding of current health and safety surrounding scaffolding and access equipment.

  • Methods

    The course is one day (eight hours) long. It includes a minimum of six hours? tuition, and practical exercises and exams. It is purely classroom based.

  • Additional Info

    Existing CISRS Scaffolding Labourer (green) Card holders also need to take this course to renew their card every five years.

    Good understanding of spoken and written English.

    Delegates wishing to book one of these courses will be required to have a CITB HS&E Test (or accepted exemption) in place at the time of booking. The CITB HS&E Test (or accepted exemption) needs to have been passed within the previous 23 months before the course start date.

    CISRS Scaffolding Operative Training Scheme (COTS) Certificate.

    We will apply on your behalf for a CISRS scaffolders labourers or CISRS scaffolders trainee card.

    The course is eligible for CITB Grant funding.
