Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)

Introduction

You’ll find COSHH regulated products and information everywhere, from leisure centres to construction sites, but what does it mean? COSHH is the law that requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health, which can include anything from bleach and cleaning products to high-grade industrial chemicals and:

  • Products containing chemicals
  • Fumes
  • Chemical and toxic dust
  • Vapours
  • Mists
  • Gases and asphyxiating gases
  • Nanotechnology

This COSHH Training certification provides delegates with knowledge and understanding of COSHH Regulations, recognises the implications and requirements of COSHH regulations, the Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and guidance, and how to apply the principles in the workplace.

The course teaches delegates to use Safety Data Sheets to assess how they use chemicals in the workplace, carry out simple risk assessments, and recognise when specialist advice and support are needed.

Course Outline

In theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover all scenarios and procedures relating to COSHH regulations and best practices.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a short answer question paper.

This training is for anyone actively involved in achieving compliance with COSHH regulations. Delegates will review legal requirements, ensure safety compliance, and understand procedures, appropriate documentation and classifications.
