EUSR - Implement Safe (Digging) Excavating Practices (Category 2)

Introduction

Excavations take planning, care and attention, and must not be seen as merely a clearance job to get work started. They are not all created using the same tools, and as they vary in size, soil type and more, workers need to know which tools are most appropriate for their site. Hand tools and handheld power tools are as essential as giant diggers to ensure digging is done correctly, to plan, and most critically, safely.

The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is the online register of training and skills for the energy and utility sector. In partnership with CSCS, the EUSR sets out to nurture and maintain a skilled and sustainable workforce in our industry.

This EUSR Excavating Practices (Category 2) certification delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding to safely excavate and maintain holes and trenches using both hand tools and handheld power tools.

Course Outline

With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover manufacturer and general knowledge and awareness of digging techniques and excavation and participate in practical activities to learn best practices, and operating methods to install a system in a live environment.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a practical observation and short answer question paper. They must pass the assessment to qualify for the EUSR accredited certificate and ID card which is valid for three years.
