EUSR - Install, Inspect & Remove Steel Support Systems (Category 4)

Introduction

Sometimes known as shoring, an excavation support system (ESS) primary aim is to support the ground within an excavation, while at the same time resisting groundwater pressure, building loads, roadways, railroads, construction traffic and various other types of loads.

Essentially, they are all variations of a structure made of steel hydraulics, mechanical or timber systems that support the sides of an excavation to prevent cave-in and collapse, protecting anyone working on or around the excavation site.

The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is the online register of training and skills for the energy and utility sector. In partnership with CSCS, the EUSR sets out to nurture and maintain a skilled and sustainable workforce in our industry.

This EUSR Steel Support Systems Category 4 certification delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding of steel ground retention systems and how to safely use them. It is specifically aimed at Managers, Supervisors, operators and safety advisors working in excavations.

Course Outline

With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover manufacturer and general knowledge and awareness of ground retention and steel support systems and participate in practical activities to learn best practices, and operating methods to install a system in a live environment.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations.
