Jointer and Jointer's Mate Refresher (DNO)

Introduction

Low and high voltage electricals are vital for day to day activities, from powering our appliances, Telecomms, and even our electric cars. To Mains electricity for residential buildings and commercial properties. For both Low Voltage and High Voltage, there are nuances and techniques that engineers and operators must know to fit and maintain them safely and most efficiently. In this case, the training will focus on refreshing a delegates high and low-voltage electrical knowledge.

This Jointer and Mate Refresher (DNO) (High Voltage or Low Voltage depending on need) qualification provides delegates with an update and refresher on skills and recent incidents on the network. This course will take them through the techniques, procedures and regulatory requirements, to keep skills current. Delegates should take this course once every 3 years.

Course Outline

Through a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, this Electrical Jointer and Mate (DNO) Refresher gives delegates the understanding, skill, knowledge, and competence to carry out Jointing work on live cable networks.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations. In addition, choose to learn with Citrus, and delegates will benefit from our custom-built training facilities and customer-first approach.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course in the Jointing School, completing the session with a practical observation and short answer question paper. They must pass the assessment to qualify for the Citrus certificate of attendance, valid for three years.   

Course Programme

Delegates taking this Jointer and Mate Refresher (HV or LV) will cover knowledge, skills and operating practice.

Course content includes:

  • Distribution safety rules and how they apply the rules and responsibilities
  • Updates on Jointing Manual
  • Group discussion on recent incidents on the network, what went wrong and the actions that are required to prevent reoccurrence
  • Practical jointing
  • Refresher on the support person’s role
On Completion

Upon successfully completing this qualification, delegates will be able to:

  • LV & HV (as appropriate) jointing techniques and skills
  • Changes to the Jointing Manual

And have an understanding of:

  • The law including, electrical theory and distribution safety rules
  • The law including, electricity at work regulations (1998)
  • Procedures
Who Should Attend?

This Electrical Jointer and Mate Refresher is for competent Jointers and Jointers Mates who work on the LV &/or HV Network and need to update their skills. This course should be taken every 3 years to refresh knowledge.  

To take this course you must already have a qualification in Jointing or as a Jointer’s Mate.

Course Duration

This course will take place over 3 days with a maximum of 4 delegates.

Things You Need to Know

A delegate must already have a qualification in Jointing or as a Jointer’s Mate (HV or LV) to be able to take the refresher course.

Delegates must be 18 or over. Before starting the course, they must inform their trainer of any special considerations, medication or physical restrictions that may cause difficulties in any part of the training.

All delegates must bring a passport photograph to the training to produce ID cards.
