IPAF PAL Mobile Boom - (Advanced Operator Training)
- Who Attends
This advanced programme is designed for trained operatives who operate Mobile Boom in a higher risk or challenging environment. Delegates must hold a PAL card qualification in Mobile Boom.
This course is approved by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).
- The Aim
To provide delegates with an advanced understanding and the ability to safely and effectively use powered access equipment in a higher risk or challenging environment. The added “PLUS” qualification on the PAL card is proof that the cardholder has successfully demonstrated his/her ability to operate powered access equipment safely and effectively in challenging work environments.

• Introduction to the scope of the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF).
• Theory session.
• Health & Safety legislation.
• Operator responsibilities.
• Safe operating guide.
• Safe use of Mobile Boom.
• Machine pre-user checks.
• Safe working environments.
• Machine familiarisation.
• Pre-start safety checks & function controls.
• Machine operating session.
• Written theory test.
• Practical test.
• One-to-one interview.
Classroom based tutorials with group participation combined with practical exercises. Delegates must successfully pass theory, practical and interview assessments.
- Additional Info
Delegates should provide a NI number & passport photograph on the day of training for production of Powered Access Licence (PAL) Cards. Delegates must also provide suitable PPE to include own safety footwear, waterproofs (if necessary), hard hat and hi visibility jacket/vest. A harness is also required for the course. You can either bring your own or borrow one from us on the day of training.
Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in
undertaking elements of this training course.
The content of this course includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment. The course does not provide full training in maintenance of equipment. Additional training relating to this subject may be of benefit to delegates (further information available upon request). Practical exercises will not be experiencing falls of any kind. The delegate will not be deemed competent in rescue procedures.
PAL is valid for 5 years and must be renewed after that.
IPAF courses are not delivered directly by Citrus Training. They are delivered via our authorised IPAF Approved Partner.
