Safe Excavation in the Vicinity of Cables (COP2), including understanding 1:500 Drawings and DSR 010-14 (DNO)

Introduction

Locating and excavating around underground cables is crucial to avoid disruption of services and prevent serious injury. Damaging or severing a cable causes electric shocks, electrical explosions, fire and even fatalities, often resulting in severe burns to the hands, face, and body.
