What is First Aid and Wellbeing?

Within construction, First Aid and Wellbeing are about more than just provision, but prevention and a safe code of conduct too.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reports that 440,000 people sustained an injury at work in the period from 2020/21 and 142 fatalities. While it is mandatory to have a first aider within the workforce under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, these stats show how important it is to have trained first aiders within the business to help fellow employees.

Physical health comes hand-in-hand with mental health too. There is clearly work to do and people to support, with charities and support groups dedicated to mental health specifically in the construction sector. Charity Mind found that one in four people will experience a mental health problem each year in England, and according to the MHFA England, poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45 billion each. But, a further study by Deloitte found that for every one pound employers spend on mental health provisions, they see five pounds ROI in the reduced absence and staff turnover.

Through high-quality training, best practices, and mindset in these areas, employers and the sector at large can keep their workers safe, supported, and foster a positive working environment.

Which course should I take?
