HR Training have now merged with Citrus Training
Background of HRTD/Citrus relationship
In line with Citrus Training’s national growth strategy and our 2017 strategic plan to launch a regional training centre and office in the North of England, we embarked on a project to find new premises. We had recently been awarded a significant contract with Yorkshire Water and so the Eastern side of the M62 corridor was a target location for us.
At the same time, a like-minded, successful training organisation, operating from the Cross Green area of Leeds, HR Training & Development (HRTD), was looking to merge with a larger training provider, so that it might grow its portfolio, reach and breadth of delivery. An opportunity presented itself for Citrus Group to acquire the Company, significantly benefitting both Organisations. Citrus Training invested significantly to improve both the office, welfare, and classroom facilities as well as the practical training areas.
There is now a newly constructed confined space training area, a new scaffold tower adjacent to the plant training land and a purpose-built simulated street works and civils utilities section. The training centre is the second largest facility that Citrus Training operates from, second only to our Head Office.
Whilst the two teams have merged operationally from the outset, sharing central functions such as finance, IT and Marketing, we had to date, chosen to keep the respective brands and operating systems separate.
The rationale being that the HRTD name, having been formerly the Hewlett and Rand training brands, was well known within the local area and to local employers and customers. We also wanted to wait until we had amalgamated our administrative functions and training delivery teams prior to formally coming together, to ensure a smooth customer experience and introduction for our team members.
Throughout 2021 representatives from each of the two Organisations have worked on a project to align our services and operating framework, this was not only to improve our performance but also to better improve our client engagement and customer service levels.
Lots of work has gone on behind the scenes to get us ready for the start of 2022 where we are now coming together under the Citrus Training brand formally. This will see us dissolve the HRTD brand during the first half of 2022 but in a phased approach to minimise any disruption.
What clients can expect going forward
Due to the volume of training and increase in customer activity in the northern regions, we are extremely confident that this merger will not only improve the working environment for both internal and external stakeholders but also future proof our services for the coming years.
We are investing in a new back-office operating system and introducing state of the art customer relationship management software. These tools will enable us to offer better delegate record management, improve management information reporting for our customers and broaden our scope of products and services.
We look forward to sharing these exciting developments with our customers from both businesses throughout the year and beyond.
Please rest assured that the same colleagues that you enjoy working with now will continue to be on hand to help and that we envisage no business interruption, purely an opportunity to improve the experiences that you have already enjoyed.Back to news items
