CSCS Gold Cards

CSCS Gold Cards - certifying quality supervisors, critical in construction

Supervisors are integral to construction on-site, ensuring safety and productivity are maintained throughout the build and are critical to a successful project overall. Often working their way up through the ranks from entry-level roles, supervisors come armed with valuable experience, knowledge and skill to apply to their function and the soft skills to support those around them.

Aside from the typical expectations and requirements of a supervisor, there will be variations day-to-day when considering company size, project size and team infrastructure. Health and Safety management and assessment, overseeing, planning, organising and controlling projects are all critical demands within the job. But whatever the supervisor's role looks like on any given project, they are a vital cog in the onsite machine.

The Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Gold Card comes in two versions, the Advanced Craft and the Supervisory. At Citrus Training, we can prepare and qualify you or your team for the Supervisory Gold card application.

Courses we offer

Applying for a CSCS card requires the applicant to hold qualifications or certifications from various options, as there is no one CSCS card-specific course to take. To apply for a Gold Card, allowing holders to take on a supervisory role or site supervisor role on site or within a construction environment, Citrus Training offers:

Applicants must hold one of the above certifications for a Construction Related Supervisory/Technical NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or 4 or an Occupational Work Supervision NVQ or SVQ Level 3 (including proof of endorsed occupation).

Plus,

HS&E - Health, Safety & Environment touch screen test to demonstrate a primary health, safety and environmental awareness level and prove they can work safely on a job. For the Green Labourer Card, applicants must pass the Operative HS&E test.

Then with both in hand, participants can apply for the CSCS Gold Supervisory card. To make an application, head to the CSCS website with your qualifications ready to submit.

Things you need to know…

How to apply for a CSCS Gold Card
Once delegates have their qualifications ready, they will need to apply directly for the relevant CSCS card or through their employer; we cannot do this on their behalf. The best way to apply is through the CSCS online service, which is available 24/7 and has options for individuals, employers, and single and bulk applications. There you will also find alternative ways to contact them should online be an issue, but we always recommend going to the online service first.

How much does a CSCS Gold Card cost?
Course prices are available here for the relevant qualifications to apply for the CSCS Gold Card. The card application itself costs £36.00 and can be purchased online or over the phone.

When will the CSCS card arrive?
Once an application is submitted and approved, CSCS will issue the card and post it the next working day. There is a grace period of up to ten days, so if your card is delayed for any reason after ten days, you must contact CSCS so they can look into it or reissue.

Renewing and replacing CSCS cards
Firstly, to renew or replace a card, holders must have an up-to-date pass qualification for the HS&E test, completed within the last two years before application.

With this in place, holders can renew cards from six months before or up to six months after the expiry date on the card. A renewed CSCS card will have the original CSCS card's expiry date plus the renewal's lifespan (full T&Cs can be found here).
