Over the last 25 years, passenger volumes have more than doubled. Since privatisation, freight volume has increased by a third, with the estimated amount of goods carried by the UK railway network over £30 billion annually.

On track for success

More recently, the HS2 rail line will see many workers deliver on one of the most significant rail projects in recent times, and work is already underway. For scale, the HS2 railway will serve around 300,000 per day.

These projects are not without risk, and the Rail sector is one of the most high-risk areas of work in the UK.
