Wates

Case Study

The Brief

Within their tender process, Wates set out the objective to partner with a suitable training organisation that would manage and deliver all of their safety and technical training.

The key elements they were looking for were:

  • Value for money and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaboration to produce company-wide standards
  • Technical support and course development for their safety and Learning & Development teams
  • Assist Wates Learning & Development teams and training administrators by providing key operational support at training events
  • Increase safety scores at all Wates sites across the UK

Our Approach

Citrus Training have supported Wates over the past 10 years with bespoke Wates exclusive courses that adhere to their own key safety principles and incorporate their own professional standards.

Over 85% of all courses we deliver to Wates – including all safety courses – are now bespoke courses that Citrus have redesigned to meet their own standards and safe systems of work practices.

Our dedicated customer team focuses entirely on operational support to ensure we can deliver timely service that surpasses the critical SLAs and KPIs set to meet their delivery needs. We engage directly with the Wates Group Learning & Development function, which performs the bulk of the training management and delivery for Wates. In addition, we provide support directly to training stakeholders across the UK at all Wates Group businesses. So, regardless of location, business unit or course type – our service is consistent, seamless and aligns perfectly with Wates Group-wide company strategy.

The Result

Citrus Training is a valued member of Wates Group's service partners. We support their 4,000 strong workforce across all business units, completing over 420 training events and over 3,000 days of training to their staff in 2021 alone. In supporting these numbers, we delivered over 100 bespoke Wates Group courses, including a combination of specially designed and accredited courses. These events have been delivered throughout the UK, using a combination of Citrus Training venues and Wates locations and, critically, Virtual Classroom courses.

In addition, Citrus Training’s dedicated, central team continually support analysis, reporting, critical training and competency management, critical to ensuring that record-keeping is up to date, in support of their work within such safety-critical environments.
