Who is CITB?

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) is the executive non-departmental public body for construction training in England, Scotland and Wales. Their focus is to help the construction industry attract talent and support skills development by ensuring training standards and qualifications are suitable for the needs of the job. They also operate a Help Levy, which allows paying employers to access the training they want and need for their people through the Grant Scheme when booking through Approved Training Organisations (ATO).

CITB Funding FAQs

You need to be registered with the CITB, up to date with your levy payments and have under 100 PAYE employees.

You can apply at any time. You will have 18 months to spend the fund and can re-apply every 12 months.

You will need to prepare a funding application. We can provide the forms and assist you in completing it.

We do not charge for this service but we can certainly provide the funded training!

We will require a brief 12-month training plan of what you plan to spend the funding on.

The CITB has taken into account that training plans can change with leavers, new starters, & different projects. There is a variation form in which you can amend & add additional training. This can be completed at any point through your funded year by Citrus.

The CITB reviews every application at the end of the month and you will receive a decision by the 15th of the next month. If successful, you will receive the funding between 6 – 8 weeks.

Employers with 1 to 49 directly employed staff can receive up to £5000. Employers with 50 to 74 directly employed staff can receive up to £7500. Employers with 75 to 99 directly employed staff can receive up to £10000.

No, the CITB will put the funding money straight into your business account.

You will be asked to fill out a completion tracker to send to the CITB to prove where the money was spent. Citrus will provide all information required and assist throughout the closure. You can then reapply for your next years funding.

The CITB will require the surplus funding money returned if it has not been used within the 18-month period.
