It is estimated there are a quarter of a million plant operators in the UK and yet we still need more to meet the ever-increasing demands of projects across the country.

As projects become more varied, skills and recognised qualifications must follow suit across the infrastructure and built environment sector to keep pace.

Plant and Lifting operations are in the top five construction occupations in the UK (volume) and a critical part of all infrastructure requirements. And so with more people in the industry comes an even greater demand for safety and efficiency training to prevent accidents caused by machinery, moving vehicles and falling from a height to name a few.

Next level training

Citrus Training has six national technical facilities, to deliver Plant and Lifting training across the UK to various national accreditation standards – including NPORS and CPCS and can deliver standards to over 50 plant types and categories.

Plant and Lifting operations affect all areas of the sectors we support, including Infrastructure, Utilities, Construction, Groundworks and Highways, and we are active in many other sectors, such as plant and tool hire. We train companies that hire out plant equipment and provide machinery and labour support for their customers.

With 43% of construction plant operatives 45 years or older and around 9% less than 24 years old, we will also increase apprenticeships across plant and lifting operations, enhancing provision for younger workers and people wishing to gain sector skills and qualifications.
