The Brief

Award-winning Barratt Developments is the UK's leading housebuilder. Barratt Homes is one of the three major brands under Barratt Developments and a long-standing client of Citrus Training, having worked with us for over 12 years. The company operates across individual divisions, each responsible for training and development, coordinating training and all profit and loss controls. With this in mind, the company needed consistent content and training for operatives across the business and brands while working semi-autonomously across each division and management. One key element to their training needs was to learn on-site or virtually, reducing downtime while still gaining the essential skills operatives, supervisors, and managers need to work on and run sites safely and productively.

Our Approach

We work very closely with Barratt Homes looking specifically at their development requirements; how we can help them with the training and courses we have, but also where we can develop new training to meet their needs.

The new bespoke training courses include a bespoke site managers course similar to the CITB Site Safety Plus SMSTS specifically for Barratt Homes. The course is shorter than the full SMSTS, which means that their delegates have less time out but still learn on the job. Our assessors continue to run the course with content dedicated to Barratt workers.

We also developed a new NVQ for managers and supervisors. Every six weeks, the delegates come together with a trainer to present their portfolio of evidence, providing a cost-effective yet high standard of training. It was so successful we were able to roll the course out to other customers.
