EUSR - Appreciation of Excavation Safety

Introduction

Excavations are naturally high-risk areas with potential for incidents if not managed or operated correctly. But, with quality training, in-depth knowledge and general awareness of the dangers of excavation work, accidents and injuries are preventable.

The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) is the online register of training and skills for the energy and utility sector. In partnership with CSCS, the EUSR sets out to nurture and maintain a skilled and sustainable workforce in our industry.

This EUSR Appreciation of Excavation Safety certification is a theory only course introducing the dangers of excavation work to delegates using resources such as the HSE’s HSG150 and HSG 47 guidance documents and Construction Industry Research reports.

Course Outlines

In theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover general knowledge and awareness of excavation safety to learn best practices and risk reversal methods to keep themselves and others around them safe.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a question and answer paper.

For anyone physically installing and removing shoring systems, we highly recommend attending the appropriate ‘live’ dig practical training course. A list of practical excavation training can be found here.

They must pass the assessment to qualify for the EUSR accredited certificate and ID card, valid for three years.
