Level 3 NVQ in Construction Contracting Operations (Estimating)

Estimation allows for preparation ahead of operations so that the quantity of work, materials, labour and budgetary need for a project is catered for before work starts.

In construction, estimation forecasts the costs of building a structure. The estimating process can span several phases of a project, and the estimator's role is multi-faceted to deal with this.

There are four main types of estimating:

  • Preliminary Estimates
  • Detailed Estimates
  • Quantity Estimates
  • Bid Estimates

This Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations - Estimating qualification enables delegates to demonstrate and recognise skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrate competence in a real workplace environment.

The qualification is designed to prepare people for work in a Construction Contracting capacity whose primary focus is on Estimating.

Course Outline

We assess delegates against performance and knowledge statements derived from National Occupational Standards - the Recommended Qualification Structure for Construction Contracting Operations Level 3.

While producing a portfolio of evidence, delegates will show how they have met each unit's performance and knowledge criteria required within the qualification, as directed by their assessor.
