Low Voltage Mock Trade Test (DNO)

Introduction

With 1000 volts or less, low voltage electrical works power our everyday lives. Commercially, they power CCTV, office technology, phone lines and switchboards - residentially, these and more, including anything from smart doorbells to thermostats and decorative outdoor lighting. General mechanical works such as plumbing and heating systems and small power tools will also be supplied by low voltage cables.

In this Citrus Low Voltage Trade Test qualification, delegates will test their skills and knowledge to prove their competence in Low Voltage Jointing in a work capacity.

Course Outline

Through a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, this Citrus Low Voltage Trade Test qualification gives delegates the understanding, skill, knowledge, and competence to carry out Jointing work on the Low Voltage Network.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations. In addition, choose to learn with Citrus, and delegates will benefit from our custom-built training facilities and customer-first approach.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course in the Jointing School, completing the session with a practical observation and short answer question paper. This is a mock trade test to prepare delegates for their trade test.

Course Programme

Delegates taking this Low Voltage Trade Test qualification will cover knowledge, skills and operating practice.

Course content includes:

  • Exercises to complete single and three phase 100 amp terminations 
  • A complete service to wave con mains branch joint service and pot ends
  • Service to service branch jointing  
  • Cut and test pilc main
  • Transition straight jointing  
  • Polarity and insulation continuity tests 
On Completion

Upon successfully completing this qualification, delegates will be able to:

  • Work and carry out testing on the low voltage Network safely
  • Recognise the complete range of low voltage joints  
  • Prepare low voltage cables  
  • Identify and use appropriate safety equipment

Things You Need to Know

This Citrus certified course has practical elements, so delegates must inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication which may create difficulties in completing the session. 

Delegates must be 18 or over. Before starting the course, they must inform their trainer of any special considerations, medication or physical restrictions that may cause difficulties in any part of the training.
