Used for carrying and transporting loose materials such as sand, gravel, waste and hardcore, the Rear Tipping Dumper truck is an efficient and productive piece of kit commonplace on construction and quarry sites.
Hydraulic rams power the tipping or dumping function of a Dumper Truck located at the front or rear of the machine, depending on the type of dumper used.
A Rear Tipping Dump Truck requires a different knowledge a skill set to its rigid and front-loading counterparts. So, while a Dump Truck may look like a relatively simple machine to operate, there is more that workers need to know to handle each type safely, correctly and productively.
This N205 NPORS certification delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding of safely using a Rear Tipping Dump Truck and eliminating any bad habits present or forming in operation. It is specifically aimed at Plant Operators who require practical and theory-based training and assessment to use or work with a Rear Tipping Dumper Truck.
A mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials take delegates through manufacturer information and general knowledge of Rear Tipping Dump Trucks. In addition, they’ll participate in practical activities to recognise the truck's components and functions, best practices and operating methods.
The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations. In addition, choose to learn with Citrus, and delegates will benefit from our custom-built training facilities and customer-first approach.
Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a practical observation and short answer question paper. They must pass the assessment to qualify for the:
- NPORS/CSCS Construction Plant Operator Card, valid for two years
- Traditional Operators card, valid for three to five years depending on sector-specific or in-company requirements
This training is essential for workers to operate a Rear Tipping Dumper Truck safely. Delegates will review legal requirements, ensure safety compliance, understand procedures and appropriate documentation and classifications.
The learnings will take delegates through;
- Health and safety legislation relating to Plant Operators
- Theoretical knowledge of plant operations
- Rear Tipping Dumper Operator's responsibilities, including daily/weekly checks of the machine
- All facets and functions of the equipment and use of the Operator's manual
- Safe and best practice in practical Rear Tipping Dumper operating methods
At the end of the training, successful delegates will:
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for a Rear Tipping Dumper Truck
- Confidently locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational and running checks following manufacturer's and legislative requirements
- Be able to prepare a Rear Tipping Dumper Truck for use and operate the machine safely and efficiently following NPORS guidance
- Perform specific loading and unloading tasks and operations as practiced throughout the course
- Confidently carry out all end of work and shut down procedures
Once successfully tested, operators who do not hold the requisite (S)NVQ with the units applicable to the category of plant achieved will be issued with a Trained Operator Card valid for 2 years from the date they were tested.
During the two-year period, they will be required to register for and achieve the requisite (S)NVQ with the unit credits applicable to the category(s) of plant held on their Trained Operator Card
NPORS (Traditional) Operator Card
For those who operate in industry sectors other than construction and therefore not subject to the requirement to hold an operator card bearing the CSCS logo, NPORS has retained its traditional operator card.
End users have the option to select 3 or 5 year registrations for this card dependent on any sector specific or in-company requirements
