PASMA Combined Low Level Access and Tower


Working at any height can pose a danger to the operator and those working around them and low-level access equipment and towers are no exception. Classed as platforms under 2.5 metres, low-level access equipment applies to:

  • Hop-up work platforms
  • Industrial podium steps
  • Multi-purpose ladders
  • Step ladders
  • Scaffold towers

This PASMA Low-Level Access and Tower certification delivers a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements of working with access equipment. It is specifically aimed at Plant Operators who work with manufactured low-level units below 2.5 metres in height and standard mobile access towers.

Course Outline

With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover manufacturer information and general knowledge of low-level access and towers equipment and participate in practical activities to recognise best practices and operating methods.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with PASMA. In addition, choose to learn with Citrus, and delegates benefit from our custom-built training facilities and customer-first approach.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a practical observation and multiple-choice question paper.

Delegates must pass all assessments to receive a photocard and PASMA certificate, valid for five years.

Course Programme

This training is essential for workers to safely work with Low-Level Access and Tower equipment. Delegates will review legal requirements, ensure safety compliance, and understand procedures, appropriate documentation and classifications.

The course content includes:

  • Work at height responsibilities for employers, employees and suppliers
  • Standards affecting the manufacturer and use of Mobile Access Towers and low-level access equipment
  • Where to find crucial safety information
  • When it is and isn’t safe to use Mobile Access Towers and low-level access equipment
  • Carrying out pre-use component checks and post-assembly inspections
  • Assembling and dismantling Mobile Access Towers and low-level access equipment using 3T and AGR methods
  • Good practice using Mobile Access Towers and low-level access equipment
  • Moving Mobile Access Towers and low-level access equipment safely
  • Identifying hazards and how to rectify them
  • Tactics to avoid personal health hazards
On Completion

At the end of the training, successful delegates will:  

  • Have excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Know the PASMA Code of Practice relevant to them 
  • Be confident carrying out assembly, altering and dismantling activities on low-level access and standard mobile units
  • Carry out all operations to learned best practices
  • Understand and use appropriate documentation

On successfully completing the course, delegates receive a photocard and PASMA certificate, valid for five years. A course content and notes booklet and a current Code of Practice booklet will also be issued to all delegates who attend this one-day course.

Things You Need to Know

The training has practical elements, so delegates must inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in any elements of this course. In addition, delegates should also bring suitable PPE on the day of training, for example; safety helmets, safety shoes or boots, hi-vis and gloves.

For training held at your location, please ensure that the classroom you make available has a power supply and is a suitable size for the number of delegates attending. In addition, please ensure that the practical area has been risk-assessed, is free from harm, and is ideal for training.
