PASMA Towers on Stairways for Users


Stairway towers offer easier navigation working at height. Built on staircases, stairways or any situation where each tower end is a different height, they are an ideal solution for various jobs such as, painting and decorating, and light fitting in stairways and narrow access passages, providing safe access to high and hard to reach areas. 

This PASMA Towers on Stairways certification delivers a thorough understanding of the relevant operational and safety requirements and inspection of working with Towers on Stairways. It is specifically aimed at Plant Operators who need to work on mobile access towers to carry out their duties.

Course Outline

With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover manufacturer information and general knowledge of mobile access towers and participate in practical activities for best practices in assembly, use, inspection and identification of types of Towers on Stairways.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with PASMA. In addition, choose to learn with Citrus, and delegates benefit from our custom-built training facilities and customer-first approach.

Our occupationally and technically-experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a practical observation and multiple-choice question paper. Delegates must pass all assessments to receive a photocard and PASMA certificate, valid for five years.

Course Programme

This training is essential for workers to safely work with Mobile Access Towers. Delegates will review legal requirements, ensure safety compliance, and understand procedures, appropriate documentation and classifications.

The course content includes:

  • Work at height responsibilities for employers, employees, and suppliers
  • Standards affecting the manufacturer and use of Towers on stairs
  • Where to find crucial safety information
  • When it is and isn’t safe to use a Stairway Tower
  • All pre-use component checks and post-assembly inspections on Stairway Towers
  • Assembling and dismantling a Stairway Tower using 3T and AGR methods
  • Good practice for the safe use of Stairway Towers
  • Identifying hazards in the work environment
  • Tactics to avoid personal health hazards
On Completion

At the end of the training, successful delegates will:

  • Have excellent knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulation for Towers on Stairways
  • Know the PASMA Code of Practice relevant to them
  • Be confident in assembling, altering and dismantling activities on standard Mobile Access Towers
  • Carry out all operations to learned best practices
  • Understand and use appropriate documentation

On successfully completing the course, delegates receive a photocard and PASMA certificate, valid for five years. A course content and notes booklet and a current Code of Practice booklet will also be issued to all delegates who attend this one-day course.

Things You Need to Know

Delegates taking this training must already hold the PASMA Towers for Users qualification.

The training has practical elements, so delegates must inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in any elements of this course. In addition, delegates should also bring suitable PPE on the day of training, for example; safety helmets, safety shoes or boots, hi-vis and gloves.

For training held at your location, please ensure that the classroom you make available has a 240v power supply and is a suitable size for the number of delegates attending. In addition, please ensure that the practical area has been risk-assessed, is free from harm, and is ideal for training.
