Level 2 Award in Tunnel Entry and Emergency Procedures (6151-02)

Introduction

To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of confined space working in tunnels to BS6164 ACOP the confined space regulation 1997.

Course Outline
  • Current Confined Space Regulations and BS6164 ACOP.  
  • Methods of risk control. 
  • Atmospheric monitoring.  
  • Health hazards and controls. 
  • Safety equipment and pre-use checks.  
  • Escape breathing apparatus.  
  • Practical exercise and assessment.
Course Programme

By the end of the training course delegates will be able to: 

  • Summarise the requirements of the Confined Space legislation and the BS6164 ACOP.  
  • Identify a confined space and its reasonably foreseeable risks.  
  • Select appropriate methods of risk control.
  • Select appropriate safety equipment that may be used when entering a confined space and carry out appropriate pre-use checks.  
  • Conduct an entry into a confined space and exit using escape breathing apparatus and appropriate safety equipment, in a safe and efficient manner. 
On Completion

This course qualifies candidates to enter confined space environment with escape re-breather and associated equipment.

  • City and Guilds accredited 6151-02.
  • Certification and ID card.
  • Valid for 3 years.
Who Should Attend

This qualification is suitable for operatives and supervisors alike and covers the fundamental principles of confined space work in tunnel environments. Although primarily aimed at operatives it is a necessary foundation for all persons looking to progress their understanding of confined space entry.

Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in undertaking elements of this training course. 
 
The content of this course includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment. The course does not provide full training in maintenance of equipment. Additional training relating to this subject may be of benefit to delegates (further information available upon request). 

A high proportion of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises will be supplemented with classroom-based tutorials and end of course multiple-choice assessment paper.
