Safety, Health & Environment
Naturally, the health and safety of everyone in our care are paramount at Citrus Training. Therefore, we follow and develop the most stringent of procedures, regulations and policies to ensure we educate delegates to the highest standards safely.
Consistency and control are pivotal to effective safety management. So The Citrus Group Safety, Health and Environment Management System is based on the HSE model and follows the PLAN > DO > CHECK > ACT > REPEAT cycle. The system is integrated into everything we do here at Citrus Training and plays a core role in our quality assurance.
PLAN
The Safety, Health, and Environmental Policy Statement outlines our commitment and goals towards the safety and health of employees, contractors, clients, and anyone affected by our activities. The document also covers our environmental obligations and goals and is reviewed periodically as a minimum.
Citrus Training employees with the Charted Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) accreditation provide competent health and safety advice in-house. In addition, the company engages employees and contractors via the Group Health and Safety Committee. Made up of Citrus employees across various departments, the committee ensures anything relating to health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and standards are actioned and to whom staff can raise any concerns.
All Citrus Group premises carry Fire Risk Assessments and emergency plans as a minimum standard.
DO
Line managers must identify all significant hazards they may create or encounter in their work and conduct risk assessments to eliminate and control the risks. The Health and Safety team will provide support, but managers must understand that while they may delegate duties, the responsibility remains with them.
The Citrus Group will provide all essential resources, including training, equipment, materials, and time, managers need to ensure the safety and health of employees and others affected.
CHECK
This stage consists of a proactive programme of inspections and audits against performance measures identified in the PLAN stage, ensuring the application of the Health and Safety Management System, that it is working correctly, and delivering the desired outcomes.
Reactive performance measurements through customer feedback, near-miss reporting cards, and accident and incident reporting procedures provide further critical data. Where the risk (potential or realised) is high, the Health and Safety Team conducts a thorough investigation to maximise valuable learning opportunities.
ACT
Planned reviews of our policy, procedures and risk assessments make up Citrus Group/Training performance evaluations. In addition, we take further reactive performance measurement through near-miss, incident, and accident investigations.
Corrective action registers are part of the risk assessment process to assist managers and ensure actions are completed. The Health and Safety Team maintains a group corrective actions register to ensure tasks from incident and accident investigations, audits, inspections, and policy reviews are complete. Managers will review this regularly at management team meetings.
Continually improving our safety, health, and environmental performance will require everyone to embrace change. We can be proud of our performance but never content. We must always strive for better.
Please contact the Health and Safety Team for more on our Safety, Health and Environment policy, including our organisational chart and procedural arrangements.
